Tell me about the Taste of Huntington Beach
 

What is Taste of Huntington Beach?
The annual Taste of Huntington Beach showcases the best of HB’s culinary talents and the region’s top wineries and breweries. For one all-inclusive price, attendees enjoy unlimited samples and sips from some of the area’s finest establishments. All proceeds benefit the Children’s Department of the HB Public Library.
 
When & Where is the Taste of Huntington Beach?
The Taste is the last Sunday in April. This year the Taste is Sunday, April 26, 2020 at the HB Sports Complex; 18100 Goldenwest; HB 92648 from 12 Noon to 4 PM – with an exclusive VIP reception from 11 AM-12 Noon

What are the perks of a VIP ticket?
A VIP ticket entitles you to red-carpet treatment, including a champagne, wine, beer and exclusive hors d’oeuvres reception from 11 AM until 12 Noon. Our VIPs enjoy many other perks like first dibs on seating, special VIP giveaways, and 30-minute early entry into the main restaurant tent.

What happens at the Taste?
Four hours of sampling tastes from 40-50 local restaurants and caterers, plus another 40 boutique wineries and craft breweries. Your all-inclusive ticket price is all you pay. There are no per-sample fees and parking is free at the HB Sports Complex that day. Valet parking is also available for a minimal fee.

Water and nonalcoholic beverages are available at the Taste, and you can purchase reduced-price Designated Driver tickets. Visit with a variety of vendors promoting their products, a fantastic raffle and silent auction plus live music for your listening and dancing pleasure.
 
Some exhibitors have interactive displays and many offer free giveaways. It's also a great place to meet friends AND to people watch!
 
There is no dress code, but the Taste is on a grassy field and comfortable shoes are recommended, but it’s also a great opportunity to dress fashionably and look your best.

Where can I purchase tickets for the Taste of Huntington Beach?
Tickets can be purchased at the Children’s Department of the HB Library and online on our ticket page. Major credit cards accepted. Personal checks and cash can be used to purchase tickets at the Main Gate and the Children’s Department.
 
General admission tickets will be available at the door, but ticket prices will be higher than if purchased online or at the Children’s desk of the HB Public Library. VIP tickets usually sell out in early April, so they will not be available at the door.
  
I don’t drink alcohol. What are my options?
Designated driver tickets are available online and will be available at the door for $10 less than current ticket prices. You must be 21 or older to enter the Taste using a designated driver ticket.

I plan to attend the Taste with a group. Are there any price breaks?
Yes; group tickets are available for purchases of 10 or more tickets made at the same time. The cost is $5 less than the current ticket price.

Are tickets refundable?
All sales are final = no refunds or exchanges for any reason. Taste tickets ARE transferrable. ID is not required for the ticket. Event is held rain or shine.

How can my business donate to the silent auction?
Please send an email on the Contact Us page of our website and you will be directed to the appropriate contact person.  

How do I become a Participant?
Online applications are available HERE. Vendors will receive a confirmation of either acceptance or regret. Invoices will be generated for accepted vendors. 
 
Do you need volunteers for the Taste?
YES! Use the Contact Us Email HERE to express your interest and will be back in touch. Volunteers are needed before, during, and after the event!
 
Is the Taste handicap accessible?
Yes – the Taste is on a flat, grassy field suitable for wheelchairs and electric scooters – although the ground can be a little bumpy. The Taste has accessible restrooms, and we offer free valet parking and early entry into the main tent for a person and companion with proof of disability if they make arrangements prior to the event. Use the Contact Us box on the Website to send an email at least 3 days in advance of the event.
 
Can people under 21 attend the Taste?
Yes; the Taste is open to the public, but there is NO PRICE REDUCTION for children’s tickets. Everyone over three years of age must purchase a full-price ticket – except for designated driver tickets; those are only available to people 21 years and older. PLEASE NOTE: a professional security team will be checking IDs at the door, and their decision on the validity of proof of drinking age will be final.

Can I bring Fido?
Animals and pets are not allowed. Trust us. It’s no fun for them to be around so much food, and so many people!  
 
Policy on Non-Participant Selling
Selling privileges at the Taste of Huntington Beach are limited to businesses or organizations that have contracted for space assignments. No other persons, businesses, or organizations will be permitted to sell products or services, solicit contributions, distribute advertising materials, or demonstrate products at the Taste of HB. Non-participant personnel observed selling, passing out literature, or demonstrating products at the Taste of HB will be escorted from the event and have their admission canceled.

Who produces the Taste of Huntington Beach?
The Friends of the Children’s Library (FOTCL), produces the Taste of Huntington Beach. Since 2001, the Taste has raised over $650,000 for the Children’s Library. The FOTCL is a 501(c)3 registered nonprofit; tax exempt: #27-1284763.
 
Any other pertinent info I should know about?
   • The Taste is an outdoor event on a grassy field. Comfortable shoes are recommended
   • Strollers are not allowed in the Main Tent.  
   • Seating at tables outdoors is limited but you are encouraged to bring blankets and stadium chairs
   • Backpacks and purses are subject to search
   • You can park in the Sports Complex and the Library parking lots for free that day
   • Valet parking is available for $5 the day of the Taste; valet parking is free for VIP ticket holders
   • No new admissions to the Taste after 3:00 PM
   • Smoking, including e-cigarettes, is not permitted at the event.
